Thank you friends!

To all my friends who joined us on Debanshi\"s 8th birthday party

Thank

We had a
brilliant birthday because of you all.

Here are few pictures of Debanshi\"s 8th birthday party this past weekend....

Theme: Monster High

A few pics of the decorations.

Monster High Cake order: long story...

A week prior to Debanshi’s birthday party, I placed an order of Monster High Cake
with Wal-Mart . I finished all decorations, a night before her birthday
party, I got a phone call from Wal-Mart bakery department around 8:30pm
that they cant do the cake as the monster high toy "Frame and Skillet"
is not available.  Wal-Mart did not leave me with enough time to order cake from another Bakery store. Luckily, Manager of Fortinos Bakery is
well known to Debanshi\"s father (Amit). His Bakery friend assured Amit that he will
have Monster High Cake ready same day. They both were
out for 6 hours hunting for cake from one Fortinos bakery to another.
Finally, came home around 2 pm with a beautiful cake.

Special thanks to Amit and his friend.

Debanshi was so
proud of her dad and is always!

She kept saying .....

To My Daughter On Her 8 th Birthday

October 26, 2013

Dear Princess D (Khushi),
I can’t believe 8 years ago today I became a mother of my first beautiful baby girl!!!
These past 8 years have passed by quickly and I have cherished every moment with you. In these 8 years, I have seen you growing so fast in all paces. You are a good dancer, singer, skater and swimmer; and a great artist. You are growing into such a beautiful and talented young lady, but this year you will mature so much more.  You are a perfect beautiful girl inside and out.
On birthdays you always asking me, “mom when I am going to be sitting without car seat and on the front seat of your car with you”. I would say now you are 8 and of course this birthday presents a new milestone in your life. But still you need a booster car seat! You are now old enough to sit in the backseat with just a seat belt like all adults but you know mom loves you and asking for another year with booster car seat.

I know how excited you are, but I feel overwhelmed with the realization that you are another step away from childhood and on the brink of being a teen. Then I know you would be more into Pet Stores…..
Never lose your imagination and playfulness.

Continue to be brave enough to try new things because there is so much this world has to offer you.
You have such a good and pure heart. There will be people in life who will want to take advantage of that, but never lose faith in yourself and those love you unconditionally.

I love hearing about your day, seeing the new dance moves you learn, teaching you new games, reading with you, and simply being your mom. I am so blessed to have you in my life.

You really are the best thing that has ever happened to me.

Happy birthday, princess!
I love you,
Mama

Little Chef's

I can't believe that it was so easy for Shreya to say: "lets make Gingerbread cookies".
I asked her, "Do you know the recipe?". She replies: "YES mom...you just have to make a dough, add ginger in it, cut into a gingerbread man shapes, then bake it. All done, so easy. I made it at school with my teacher (Mrs Smith)".

Then, we all (Debanshi, Shreya and myself) thought, if its so easy then lets make it.

I had to download recipe, the real one from internet.

Molasses-Free Gingerbread Cookies

1 cup butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon clove
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
2 teaspoons ground ginger

Directions:

1 Cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until color gets light.

2 Beat in egg.

3 In a separate bowl blend together all dry ingredients including spices.

4 Blend into butter mixture until evenly mixed and ball of dough forms.

5 If you want to use cookie cutters- form dough into a ball and then flatten slightly, wrap and chill.

6 Preheat oven to 375°F once dough is chilled.

7 Roll chilled dough out onto very lightly floured surface until about 1/8 inch thick and cut into the shape you covet.

8 Bake on a lightly greased cookie sheet at 375°F for about 6-9 minutes. These cookies will spread a little so try to keep them at least 1/2 inch apart on the cookie sheet.

9 Cookies are done when just barely golden around the edges.

10 To keep them crisp cool them on a wire rack.

11 Once completely cool you can frost them or just eat them plain.

12 NOTE: If you are going the easy route you can also roll dough into a log, wrap and chill and then just slice into circles and bake instead of using cookie cutters.
